Conditioning

Rugby for me is without doubt one of the most challenging sports to train for. Few other sports have the range of physical requirements that rugby demands from the player. The evolution of the game since the professional era has seen the need for greatly improved fitness and conditioning in all areas of the game.
Training correctly for rugby has become a science. Taking the time to educate yourself properly on how you should be training will be the difference between success and failure on the pitch. There are no short cuts to getting into top shape to compete at the highest level. By consistently working hard and training the right way you will see significant progress each season, your performance will improve and your injury rate will decrease.
Having the privilege of working with the Springboks has made me realise once again what can be achieved if true professionalism, correct training and hard work are consistently applied. The sheer strength, power and speed that some of the Boks having managed to achieve is indeed very impressive, and I have no doubt that their high levels of conditioning laid the foundation for their recent World Cup success.
